Grow your communication skills

Practice active listening

An important part of communication includes listening to others and engaging in what they have to say. Keep eye contact, pay attention to what the speaker is saying, avoid distractions in the room, nod to show acknowledgment, and do not interject when the other person is speaking. Additionally, try to respond in a way to show the speaker you are listening and want them to continue speaking.

Talk to others

It all begins with a conversation. Speak with confidence, be friendly, and be respectful to build connections with others. The more practice you have talking to new people will help you work on your emotional intelligence and be able to grow in your career and prepare yourself for interviews for college and medical school. The more practice you have communicating with others will make tough conversations easier.
